Jain Vishva Bharati Institute (Deemed University)

Jain Vishva Bharati Institute (now University) was established in the year 1991 with the objective of providing training, learning, research, extension and xperimentation in the various branches of learning. It was accorded the status of a “Deemed to be University” in 1991 on the recommendation of the Government of India. From 2006, its name has been changed to Jain Vishva Bharati University.

The JVBU is an endeavor in the direction of putting into practice and to promote and propagate the high ideals of Anekant (Non-Absolute Outlook), Ahimsa (Non-Violence), Tolerance and peaceful coexistence for the weal of mankind.

It provides research and advancement and dissemination of knowledge in the fields of Prakrit Language and Literature, Pali, Sanskrit, Apabhramsha, Jainology, Philosophy, Religion, Comparative Studies in Philosophy and World Religion, Astrology, Mantravidya Avadhanvidya (Mnemonics), Yoga and sadhana, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Colour Therapy, Magnet Therapy, Jeevan vigyan and Preksha dhyan and the fundamental principles of Shramana Culture. The Current Anushashta of the university is Acharya Shri Mahashraman, the eleventh supreme head of the Jain Shwetamber Terapanth Sect, who is empowered to discipline the institute both morally and spiritually. However, the university is free from any religious affiliations and above sectarian bias.
